Our values make us who we are.

Our beliefs, the way we treat people, how we protect our environment, our sustainability practices, our company CULTURE, all play A role in the way we do business today.

Social Justice Issues.

The Ziggindigenous & Gregg Deal

Representation matters, and is only enriched by the complexity of the existence of Indigenous people.

This piece has become an iconic work for local artist Gregg Deal. The overall reaction to it is based on the familiarity of the mix of two pieces of popular culture: the “relic” Native American Image of a Western Shoshone man named “Shoshone Pete” and David Bowie’s lightning bolt from his legendary 1973 album cover “Aladdin Sane”.

The Secret Ingredient.

The Farm

A gorgeous field of The Block's rye crop. We work directly with XL Specialties on the varietals, farming techniques, storage, and transportation of the grains. Our dedicated acreage produces 70% of the grain we use.

This crop is grown without the use of chemical sprays. The fields are rotated annually with nitrogen replenishing cover crops and fertilizer only comes in the form of natural manure.

What Really Matters.

The Family.

The Block Distilling Co. is the brainchild of Kraig, Kameron, and Michelle Weaver. Kraig and Kameron are brothers. Kraig and Michelle are married. During college, the brothers always brought bottles of whiskey to the parties because they were never beer drinkers, and you could say it all started there. Years later, when the opportunity presented itself, opening a distillery sounded like an opportunity they couldn’t pass up.

Yes, it’s sometimes hard to own a business with your family, but the Weavers always make it work.

Doing business while constantly improving.

Sustainability

All manufacturing uses energy but that doesn’t mean we cannot find ways to do it better. We are constantly revising our techniques, adding new efficiencies, and upgrading our equipment. Our condensers run of a recirculated glycol system so there is no excess water used. Hot steam condensate is returned to the boiler to be reheated. The grain and water used to create our spirits is sent to the farm post distillation meaning that our waste from the back of house is almost zero. Any spent fruit, herbs, even bar napkins and paper towels are composted, never thrown away.
