About the whiskey:
We are not saying this is one of one barrel or that we will never make it again but we are saying there were only a few barrels created and in the aging pipeline and there are no current plans of adding this recipe to our production schedule. So that is why it is rare.
So why haven’t we made or planned to make more? Especially when it tastes so incredible that it deserves an emphasized release? A few reasons:
Blue and red corn are difficult to grow and keep happy and even if successful do not result in a lot of pounds per acre used. This makes the grain costly to use. But these varietals contribute impressive flavor depth to the whiskey.
The Block uses 6 different grains and different varietals of those grains to achieve flavors underrepresented on the liquor store shelves. However that means sometimes we have an odd mix left over before the next grain delivery arrives. So we start creating new recipes by necessity yet that forced hand can end up achieving an amazing finished spirit.
