225 Club YEAR 6 Release: Citrus Liqueur

225 CLUB YEAR 6 Release No. 1 is a Citrus Liqueur

First and foremost, citrus liqueurs are a rather diverse group of spirits and are produced all over the world. While orange is probably the most common, there are other various citrus based liqueurs that exist. While, citrus flavoring is the thread that ties these liqueurs together, a variety of distillates are used as common bases, including but not limited to vodka, brandy, or rum. Popular production areas for citrus-based liqueurs include France, Italy, and the Caribbean islands. These liqueurs get their citrus flavoring from various techniques, including maceration with dried peels or the addition of essential oils. In terms of flavor, citrus liqueurs can range from bitter to sweet, as well as contain a variety of additional herbs, spices, or added flavorings.

For our citrus liqueur we start with our three grain, single distillate vodka-the base for a lot of what we do here at TBDC. Fresh peels from oranges, lemons, and grapefruit, in addition to lime leaf, are macerated in our vodka, and then redistilled to produce a relatively clear + colorless, citrus flavored product. Check out a quick video on the process here!
